It's how the egg ended up in the sewers of Brooklyn, likely sucked into the 'real world' along with everybody else. On their journey, they see some dinosaurs running about in the wild which was likely also a nod to Yoshi's Island (even the movie's Easter eggs have Easter eggs).Įagle-eyed fans will have also seen this particular egg offered as a gift by one of the guests at the planned wedding of Bowser and Princess Peach. There is a nod to Yoshi earlier in the movie when Mario, Princess Peach and Toad are travelling to the Jungle Kingdom. Mario fans will know this is teasing the arrival of the adorable green dinosaur Yoshi in the sequel, but we never see what the movie version of Yoshi looks like.

We see the egg begin to crack and we hear a cute little 'yoshi' when the screen cuts to black. As we see in the credit scene, this included a certain white egg with green spots. The post-credit scene cuts back to the Brooklyn sewers some time after the events of the climax, which saw some parts of the Mushroom Kingdom warped into the 'real world'.
